The updated CT Paid Leave was enacted on January 1, 2022.
The Paid Family and Medical Leave Act (PFMLA) offers Connecticut workers the opportunity to take time to attend to personal and family health needs without worrying about lost income.
The CT Paid Leave Authority provides Connecticut’s workforce access to paid family and medical leave benefits by offering helpful tools and resources to help administer this new program.
Covered employees in Connecticut are eligible for benefits under PFMLA if they have earned wages of at least $2,325 in the highest-earning quarter of the first four of the five most recently completed quarters (the ”base period”) and are currently employed, or have been employed within the last 12 weeks, or are self-employed, a sole proprietor and a Connecticut resident enrolled in the program.
The qualifying circumstances can be found on the Connecticut Paid Leave site for employers.
Employees can apply directly on the Connecticut Paid leave site. They will be contacted by Connecticut Paid Leave agents to determine if they are approved for this program.
This information should be given to employees on an annual basis.
